What is Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana?
This is one of the best schemes of the government to improve the future of these children. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a central government small savings scheme for daughters, launched under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana. This is the best interest rate plan.
More than 15 lakhs will be available on maturity
Assume that you invest 3000 rupees per month in this scheme, that means you will get 9,11,574 rupees after 14 years at 7.6% annual compounding on 36,000 rupees per annum. This amount will be around 15,22,221 rupees at maturity i.e. 21 years. Let us tell you that currently interest is being given in SSY at the rate of 7.6 percent, which is with income tax exemption.
How to open an account
Account under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana can be opened at any post office or authorized branch of commercial branch. Under this scheme, the account can be opened before the daughter turns 10 by depositing a minimum of Rs 250. A maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh can be deposited under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in the current financial year.
After opening the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account it can be operated till the daughter attains the age of 21 years or till she gets married after the age of 18 years.
If the amount is not deposited, such penalty will be charged
If a minimum of Rs 250 is not deposited every year, the account will be closed and revised with a penalty of Rs 50 per year. Reactivation can be done up to 15 years after account opening.
