PM Poshan Abhiyan In Gujarati | Pradhan Mantri Nutrition Mission – National Nutrition Mission

The government has approved the Centrally Sponsored Scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM POSHAN)’ to provide one hot cooked meal in government and government aided schools from 2021-22 to 2025-26.

Pradhan Mantri Noorshan Abhiyan is a scheme launched by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.

What is Nutrition Abhiyan Yojana? (PM Poshan Abhiyan 2023)
The main objective of the PM Nutrition Campaign is to address the two critical issues of hunger and education for the majority of children in India viz. By improving the nutritional status of eligible children in government and government-aided schools as well as encouraging poor children from underprivileged sections to attend school more regularly and help them concentrate on classroom activities.

The Nutrition Abhiyan is one of the many schemes under the umbrella scheme “Integrated Child Development Seva Yojana (ICDS)”. ICDS also includes Anganwadi Seva Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Scheme for Girls.

Objective of the scheme
The main objectives of the Nutrition Abhiyan, also known as the National Nutrition Mission, are to:

To improve the nutritional status of children, pregnant and lactating women and adolescents in the country.
To reduce the prevalence of malnutrition in these population groups, including stunting, malnutrition and anaemia.
Improving the delivery of nutrition-related services at the community level.
To increase awareness and demand for such services among the general public.
To promote breastfeeding and consumption of fortified foods and supplements.
Providing nutrition education to communities.
Strengthen monitoring and evaluation of nutrition-related interventions.
Who can benefit from the scheme?
Applicant must be a citizen of India. Applicant should be studying in primary or upper primary class (in standard 1 to 8) in a government or government aided school.
