If you do not link your PAN card with Aadhaar card by March 31, 2023, your PAN card will be deactivated by the Income Tax Department. CBDT said failure to link PAN card with Aadhaar card will render it inactive and all processes required for PAN will be stopped. The department said that PAN can be reactivated after reporting Aadhaar to the prescribed authority after paying the prescribed fee. However, CDBT said that those who have not linked their PAN with Aadhaar till March 31, 2023, their PAN will remain functional for processes under the Act, such as filing of income tax returns, processing of refunds, etc.

It is mandatory to link PAN card with Aadhaar card by 31st March 2023. If the taxpayer does not link their PAN card with Aadhaar card, their PAN card will be deactivated. First of all go to income tax department e-filing website www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

Click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ from the quick links provided on the left here. Now a new page will open.

Enter your Aadhaar and PAN card number on this page.

Then click on the validate button at the bottom right.

If your name, date of birth and address match, it will get link option through OTP.

If the data does not match, correction has to be done in one of the cards, then the same process has to be completed and the PAN has to be linked with Aadhaar and the PAN card is linked with Aadhaar.

Send this SMS to 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number

If your Aadhaar number is 987654321012 and your PAN is ABCDE1234F, then you have to write UIDPAN 987654321012 ABCDE1234F and send this message to 567678 or 56161.
