Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana or PMJDY was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2014 with the aim of financial inclusion. The primary objective of the scheme is to ensure that the weaker sections and lower-income groups can also access financial services at the national level. It aims to bring all individuals under the umbrella of opening a bank account. Through PMJDY, individuals can access services like banking, savings and deposit accounts, remittances, pensions and the like.

These benefits will be available in Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana:

Under Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana everyone can open their account with zero balance. A debit card is also available. This scheme launched by the central government has been implemented in two phases. In which uneducated people living in rural areas or age eligible people are joining this scheme easily. Under this scheme, various facilities have been made available by the bank to the candidates. In which many types of facilities like money transfer debt, money investment, disaster insurance assistance and loan assistance are available.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana – Eligibility Criteria

Account must be opened for the first time under this scheme.
Account must be opened between August 15, 2014 to January 26, 2015.
The applicant should be the head of the family or the earning member of the family.
Applicant’s age should be between 18 to 59 years.
Applicant should not be a Government servant.
Tax paying citizens cannot be eligible for this scheme.
Even retired government employees cannot avail the benefit of this scheme.
Assistance to candidates under Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana, the candidate will be given an accident insurance assistance of Rs.1,00,000.
Additional insurance assistance of up to Rs.30,000 was provided to those who opened the account till January 26, 2015.
Jan Dhan can also avail overdraft facility of Rs.5000 after 6 months after opening the account.
According to the information received by the central government, 24.61 crore women have joined this Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana till December 29, 2021.
The name of this scheme will be run by My Account, Fortune Teller.
In the second phase, the facility of pension micro insurance has been started, under which loan assistance and pension assistance will be provided to the beneficiaries.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Information

By 2021, 24.61 crore women have joined this Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana, the candidate will be given an accident insurance assistance of Rs.1,00,000.
The age of the applicant availing the benefit of this scheme should be between 18 years to 59 years.
Now candidates can open account near their residence. The various types of subsidy received under this scheme will be directly deposited in the Jandhan account of the candidates.
