In fact, in a ‘people-centric move’ aimed at benefiting millions of people in India, the UIDAI has decided to waive the fee of Rs 50 from citizens for updating their document details on the Aadhaar portal. The Ministry of Electronics and IT said that the free service will be available for the next three months i.e. from 15 March to 14 June 2023.

The charge has to be paid offline

However, people seeking to change the phone number will have to physically visit the Aadhaar center and pay a fee of Rs 50. For those who were issued Aadhaar card 10 years back and have never updated their UID, UIDAI is encouraging them to upload the document online to update the information.

Update has to be done after 10 years

As per Aadhaar Registration and Update Regulations, 2016 Aadhaar number holders who have completed 10 years from the date of registration for Aadhaar can update their supporting documents at least once. The statement said that this service is provided free of cost only on the Aadhaar portal, while a fee of Rs 50 will be charged at Aadhaar centers as before.

Update Aadhaar in this way

First of all you have to open the official website of UIDAI uidai.gov.in.

Then click on Aadhaar Card Registration option. Mandatory information such as child’s name, guardian’s phone number and other necessary biometric information related to the child and its parents must be filled in it. After address, state and other details have to be filled. Check all the details correctly and then submit. Next click on appointment option.

You have to upload documents like identity proof, address proof, date of birth and reference number.

The Aadhaar Executive will then carry out further processing and you will be given an acknowledgment number to track the application process. Aadhaar card will be posted to users registered address within 60 days.
Visit the uidai.gov website to update the child’s biometric in the child’s Aadhaar card.

And book an appointment at the nearest Aadhaar center to update your children’s Aadhaar card details. This card is required to avail various welfare schemes and benefits of the government. Also, digital photo identity proof is mandatory for children from birth onwards. So if the Aadhaar card is not updated then it should be done soon.
